Exporting Report to Excel

I'm having a problem exporting a report to Excel. It only save the first 23
lines of the report. If I save it as .csv I get everything. Any ideas?What version are you on? If RS 2000 I suggesting installing SP2.

problem. It occurs on two different machines. I preview the report and click
Save and select Excel. It then only saves a few lines of the report or I get
an error "operation is not valid due to the current state of the object". I
have found a work around that works on both machines. After clicking Save,
when the window appears to select the the name to save as I click cancel. I
then go back and save it like you normally would and it works. The problem
seems to be a bug. It doesn't make sense, but it works. I hope this will help
others.

this from the Report Manager? If it works from Report Manager and it is just
development then it sounds like you have a work around.
One thing, SP2 should be installed at both the server and update the Report
Designer on the development machines as well. Especially if you bypassed
SP1. SP1 definitely had to be installed in both places.

exporting multiple rows

I'm trying to set up a row that has 5 rows below it and when you click on the + it'll expand to show the five lines.

They're all set up to toggle based on the one row. It works online, but when I try to export it to anything, it only picks up the first detail row and leaves off the rest. I'm doing this for a bunch of reports, and they're all being emailed using subscriptions.

I've moved the detail rows around but each time it's just the first detail row that is exported.

Any ideas?

Hello,

What formats are you trying to export to? Toggleable visibility is only supported in a few rendering extensions (HTML, Winforms, and in some cases Excel).

When you export to PDF or Image, those renderers honor the toggle state at the time the file is exported. So, if you have all of your toggleable items collapsed and then export to PDF you will only see the collapsed representation.

Exporting Data/1st three lines NOT CSV..

I have a specific format that I need to export data to. The first three lines of the document MUST be in the form of:

ascii
,
klg, Eastern Daylight Time,1,1
PineGrove,0,2005/10/01,00:00,1,1.75,192
PineGrove,0,2005/10/01,00:05,1,1.75,192
Pinegrove,0,2005/10/01,00:10,1,1.75,192

If I set this up in DTS and do an export, it puts commas after ascii - which I cannot have.

I've also tried using two data sources and exporting twice (hoping to append), however, one just overwrites the other.

Anyone have any ideas?? :o

You can create two text files, one with the headers. Then use the dos copy command to make one file.

copy file1+file2 file3

Another option is to create a temporary staging table. It can have one large varchar column that contains the data. Then export from this table. This option requires a little work.

Export wizard trouble exporting columns names to ragged file.

I’m using the Import\Export wizard to export the top 5 lines from a MS Sql table into a fixed format (“ragged”) file.But I want the first record to contain the column names of the exported fields so I selected the “Column names in the first data row” option of the “Choose a Destination” box. When I run the Package I get:

That's very strange. I'm racking my brains as to what might be the problem but I can't think of anything!

Is there any other clue as to what is the problem?

The problem here is that when you include column names in the first data row, then you might need to modify the column width (for a ragged right file). For example, if you have a column CustomerID which is of type DT_STR(5), it will fail trying to write "CustomerID" in that space, which takes 10 characters. Use the Edit Transform button on configure Flat File Destination page of the Import Export Wizard to adjust the length specified for each fixed width column.

I thought that that could be the case but I haven't had a chance to test it.

I also have to test if the "Import" wizard, with "column names in first row", has the same issue. My impression is no and perhaps the Export wizard is not as forgiving as the Import one. I will check.

EXPORT TO PDF - double lines won't export

Has anyone seen this before:
if you set the borderstyle for any cell to double, when you export to
PDF, it appears as a single line. Is there a work-around for this,
aside from a adding another row? These are pretty complicated reports,
and I don't want the added overhead of managing the visibility of a row
I added just to get a double line.
This should be simple. Any ideas?what a great group. Answers for everyone. Boy, Microsoft really has

Currenly work with dataset which has 100000 records, when i export ssrs
report to excel it displayed error message "can't export more than 65000
lines"
I m blocked !!!!I believe that Excel 2007 now has a limit of 1 000 000 rows by 16 384
columns.
